Rethesis [RE] from Tarnished Coast is dead. Or at least it was. What it *was* is still dead though, with the torch passing to [RIP], which agreed to a merger with another Tarnished Coast guild who enforced similar rules regarding primetime world vs world participation. The short story is that Ethersin quit the game, culminating in a replacement of primetime WvW action with an overflow stack and pair of (not bad) Tequatl attempts, one of which was nice enough to drop me three chests. While sad, the news and subsequent events were more or less drama-free and all transitions have been as smooth as could be expected.

Originally, Rethesis was going to be disbanded immediately on Sunday when Ethersin planned to quit. His refusal to salvage his legendary and put it on YouTube seems to indicate he’ll be coming back at some point, but that is not in the immediate future. This plan changed to [RE] continuing to exist to offer [RIP] members access to the ever-essential guild commendations, which gave way to continued existence under a new, more lax leadership. Fading (head of [RIP]) stuck the course, running his guild as an extension of the original WvW focus. The vast majority who joined his guild did the same, leaving zombie Rethesis with little in the way of dedicated WvW players and commanders. I am one of those who stuck the course, staying and shuffling around with Fading in place of the new [RE]. As such, all future reset night streams will represent [RIP] and/or the new guild being formed by the aforementioned merger.

P.S. ArenaNet: Can we not have “Join In Sparkfly Fen” immediately next to “Kick From Guild?”

I’m a third-generation bittervet, a proud Amarrian, a PVP junkie, and currently residing in Venal. I play Guild Wars 2 as Varamyr Langkron, and most other games as just Zinthros.
